ZÖE is a songwriter, producer and sound engineer originally from Los Angeles. In 2016, after the death of her father, she decided to take the opportunity, while nerves and emotions were still in their rawest of states, to travel someplace she would never imagine going, to write and record an album in its entirety in the span of 3 weeks.
Upon her arrival in Iceland, like so many of the nation’s tourists, she was struck by both the perfection and brutality of its nature, particularly in the winter when she arrived. The unique landscapes, constant darkness, and slower pace of daily life allowed her to completely bury herself in developing a haunting and vividly narrative sound; taking the darker elements of pop and combining them with a moody cinematic landscape, lush with ethereal textures, biting lyrics, and heavy-hitting hooks. What began as a 3 week project quickly evolved into a 3 month stay, which eventually lead to her permanent move to Reykjavik in 2017.
In 2018, she was introduced to one of Iceland’s most celebrated directors, Baldvin Z, who was in the editing process of his breakthrough film "Lof mér að falla.”
After viewing an early cut of the film, ZÖE raced back to her studio where she wrote and recorded the title song for the film, LET ME FALL, in just under one hour. Her rendition of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' AIN'T GONNA RAIN ANYMORE was also featured in the pivotal ending scene of the film.
Over the past 3 years, she has written, produced and recorded just shy of 100 original songs and signed with Icelandic record label Alda Music. She has released 3 singles off her upcoming 15 song full-length album ("Shook," "Silver Bullets" and "Feed the Wolves") slated for release in Autumn 2021.
